Portrait of Lesandro.

Argus Lesandro - born 4960 - is a Human arcanist and member of the Incantrium, holding the rank of adept arcanist. He is the lead member of a team that specializes in studying ancient ruins, such as those at Wupheodran.

Magister Lesandro is considered a prominent citizen of the Grand Commonwealth, in his capacity as a project leader for an arcane order, most notably for his focus on the ongoing efforts to better understand one of the mysterious race that preceded the modern peoples of Arginium.

Background[edit | edit source]

Early Life[edit | edit source]

Argus was born and raised in a small, close-knit gentry family in the city of Riverview, in northern Apparona. He is but the most recent in a long line of Lesandros to be an arcanist, and his love of books and writing, combined with his deeply inquisitive and scholarly nature, made him a natural student of the complex methods employed in the ever-expanding fields of Magick. He is an accomplished expert in spellcraft, and is also a skilled alchemist.

The youngest of three and the only son, Argus had a comfortable childhood, learning a variety of skills by the time he was a teenager even as he faced the increasingly challenging tests and tasks of aspiring arcanists. He can fletch arrows, is a competent fisherman, enjoys drawing and is a ravenous reader. He has already contributed copious amounts of information, both empirical and theoretical, to the order's archives on numerous ongoing initiatives, and was largely responsible for the tests that proved that Ashur-cut Oopari crystals were capable of resonating a magickal field of sufficient overcharge for the purposes of arcane teleportation with virtually unlimited range.

Lakeland War[edit | edit source]

At the age of 22, in mid-4582, Lesandro was one of a detachment who were dispatched by the Incantrium to support the Grand Army response to large-scale troll incursions into Lakeland, in what history remembers as the Lakeland War. Reports of entire villages ravaged and their residents sacrificially butchered had sparked outrage, with the Grand Army and numerous militias sending support. He was active in numerous battles, providing both defensive and offensive magicks in support of the allied troops.

In the Battle of Kensen Field in southern Lakeland, he was captured by trolls who intended to use him as a sacrifice to their pagan spirit gods, hoping to "regain their favor" in their fight against allied forces. While he was ultimately saved by troops who laid siege to the troll war camp he had been taken to, they weren't able to arrive in time to prevent him having his left arm cut off as the first stage of the elaborate ritual the trolls had planned. Rotated behind the front lines, Lesandro was later moved to the Apothecary house in the city of Arlasona, where his wound was tended before arcane engineers crafted him an artificial arm made of magisteel. While fully articulate and lifelike, the arm is still the dull silvery-gray that is the natural color of magisteel.

After the Lakeland War, Lisandro would go on to continue his research into the uses of Oopari crystals. These purplish-white crystals, which grow in formations near mana wells and in Precursor ruins, are a part of his greater interest in the Precursor civilization, which made extensive use of the potent natural magickal source the crystals represent. He has postulated theories in the usage of the crystals for treating injuries and even serious illnesses. These theories are being further explored by Incantrium scholars.

Project Leader[edit | edit source]

In mid-4992, Lesandro was selected on recommendation from his chapter factor to oversee the study of the Precursor ruin at Wupheodran, located near the coast at the border between the Eastlands and Northlands. He was granted the post of project leader and put in charge of a research team of a dozen fellow arcanists. Of particular interest to the Incantrium within the ruins is the elaborate "fluid map" which has been identified as depicting the entire Continent and surrounding waters. Numerous points of interest - the Great Lighthouse, Zomorah Abyssal, Stormspire and the sunken city ruins of Bergamara, notably - are clearly marked. The map, while providing an extremely detailed topographic view, is made of an unknown fluid substance which holds the shape of the continental mass with amazing accuracy. Touching a portion of the map causes it to reform itself into a detailed localized view of that particular geographical region.

Lesandro has proposed many ideas on the uses the Precursors had for the map, and the value it may have for modern civilization is of growing interest. Whatever else happens with the project, this young magister will likely be at the center of it.

Personal Life[edit | edit source]

Magister Lesandro is married and has three children - a daughter and two sons. His family resides at a small manor in the Solaris Gardens District of Riverview, and he returns there frequently to spend time with them. Many consider Lesandro "brilliant, dangerously so", as few arcanists as young as he ever ascend to lead an Incantrium project team at a young age. But he is a driven and inquisitive scholar, and his child-like love for his work and creative mind are said to be both a blessing and a curse, and he can be notoriously absent minded and forgetful at times. Some postulate his skill and intensity for his work will either be his greatest asset or his certain undoing.
